Course Content About this programme
The programme is designed as a mechanism to allow holders of craft qualifications and others with substantial relevant work experience to progress to the final year of a three year level 7 BEng in Mechatronics. The modules have been carefully chosen to ensure that the appropriate level 6 learning outcomes have been achieved and that the learner is adequately prepared to progress to the final year of the Mechatronics programme.
Financial Support This course has been approved by ULearning Skillnet for a fees subsidy of up to 25% for students whose company is a member of the ULearning Skillnet network.

There are also a limited number of free places available for unemployed students who meet the required criteria by ULearning Skillnet.

Please note there are only a limited number of subsidies available for both employed and unemployed students.

Course Content First Polymer Training is pleased to announce a new one day Automation/ Robotics training programme to take place at our training centre in Athlone. Our centre has recently been equipped with a new STAR Automation Robot- Gxe-1000 Stec 360B and Sprue Picker SP600FIV.

Overview

This module has been designed to equip the course participants with a grounded knowledge of practical and appropriate applications of typical automation found in the plastics industry, as represented by the automation installed at First Polymer Training.
To allow the course participants to focus on cycle time improvement and appropriate machine optimisation in conjunction with automation systems.
To introduce the course participants to safety systems associated with injection moulding automation.

The course participants will be introduced to the following
General Overview of Automation Systems
International Safety Regulations and specific machine safety
Basic Injection Moulding Machine Applications
Set up of Robot & Machine to include Timers, Modes and Sequences
Machine/ Robot adjustment
