Methods of Assessment This course will itself be evaluated using the Phillips methodology. Reaction, learning and application evaluation will be by way of questionnaire and their will be an online focus group session to track progress and application of skills. If the organisation permits an impact evaluation will also be conducted.
Learning Outcomes Participants will learn the ROI Methodology to Foundations Certificate equipping them to:

o Create and conduct evaluation studies through all 5 levels to Return on Investment. It also covers the use of Levels 1 Reaction and 2 Learning from Kirkpatrick/Phillips
o Evaluate any learning Program to a meaningful level
o Sell the Phillips Methodology within your organisation
o Engage business stakeholders in your process.
o Empower Learning & Development to claim the benefit of investments
o Increase the Benefit to Cost Ratio / ROI of Learning & Development
o Each participant is asked to present a learning program that they plan to evaluate
o They will have the opportunity to develop a data collection plan and ROI analysis plan for their training program and have it peer reviewed by the other participants and the facilitator.

Course Content Today there is an increasingly strong demand for accountability and value for money within all functions. This means whatever training solutions are provided- internally or externally sourced- they should, indeed must be rigorously reviewed and assessed for quality of outcome and value for money.
Subjects Taught Participants will acquire a thorough grounding in the principles and application of the Phillips ROI evaluation methodology when applied to Learning and Development (L&D). On completion, successful candidates will be equipped to advocate ROI and design and complete evaluations on training programs.

Entry Requirements Leaving Certificate or equivalent, or mature applicants over 23 years of age. For applicants who wish to attain the award of Higher Certificate in Supervisory Management & Technology, a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a supervisory or leadership role in industry would be necessary in order to gain the Credits for Module 1 (Work Experience Portfolio).

A prospective student who does not have the requisite experience may undertake the taught modules and gain one of a variety of minor awards that are on offer.

Course Content This programme has been designed to fill the demand for personal development plans for front-line managers, team leaders or supervisors, who have not attained the academic entry requirements for Level 7 courses that are on offer. It is designed to back up the experience that supervisors have gained over a number of years, and to add to their knowledge and skills of managing a group of staff.

A prospective student who does not have the requisite experience may undertake the taught modules and gain one of a variety of minor awards that are on offer.

Financial Support This course has been approved by ULearning Skillnet for a fees subsidy of up to 25% for students whose company is a member of the ULearning Skillnet network.

There are also a limited number of free places available for unemployed students who meet the required criteria by ULearning Skillnet.

Complete a skills demonstration template based on supervisory / management activities undertaken, with a personal reflection on your own learning and progress. The template is based on operational planning skills, organisational skills and team leadership skills.

Assignment 30%
Complete a 1000 word assignment on how Supervisory Management could develop a productive and motivated team through good work practices and effective communication.

Learning Outcomes • Understand the key concepts, principles and practice in supervisory / line management.
• Build a pattern of effective communication and problem solving to give great flexibility
