Aniruddha Kar attended Career Zoo in February 2013. He came from a hotel background but was interested in finding work in the IT industry. After speaking to a member of the Skillnets team, he became aware of Limerick Chamber Skillnet’s IT Desktop Support Technician course, fully funded under Skillnets’Job-seekers Support Programme (JSSP). He moved from Dublin to Limerick to attend the course, and on completion of the six-month course, the network organised a six week work placement with Asystec Ltd. Following the placement, the company offered him a JobBridge internship in December but a month into the internship Asystec gave him a full-time position as a Junior Technical Consultant.
This is what Aniruddha had to say about his experience:
“For so long my impossible dream was to work in the I.T. industry. Then by chance through Career Zoo I enrolled on the Job-seeker Support Programme ‘Desktop Support Technician’ course with Limerick Chamber Skillnet.
Throughout the course Limerick Chamber Skillnet,through their Network Manager – Anne Morris, provided guidance and encouragement that I have never experienced before. Everyone says in order to get a job you have to network. I certainly got into the best network!
The advantage of the course is it gives a firm foundation followed by a practical 6 weeks work placement with the potential of a full-time job.I have realised my dream thanks to Limerick Chamber Skillnet and would strongly encourage others to do likewise by enrolling in similar courses.”
